Locations are presented in the order they first appeared in the episodes, with all subsequent revisits to that place grouped together for the sake of tidiness. Timings given are based on the Blu-ray editions and all episode images are sourced from these discs. Please note that Blu-ray grabs have been regraded to highlight details of the filming locations and are not representative of the actual look of the Blu-rays, which are graded appropriately.

(1A)
BIDDULPH ROAD
MAIDA VALE
LONDON W9

Identified by:

(00:02) The Fosters' vintage car approaches and turns right into Lauderdale Road at night.

(03:09) Jeff steers the Vauxhall into Lauderdale Road at the junction. He has to break hard when Jeannie runs out in front of him.

Since Filming: The pavement at the right turn into Lauderdale Road has now been built out since 1989 as a traffic calming measure.

LAUDERDALE ROAD

(00:21) Henry Foster pulls the car over at the roadside opposite Jean Hopkirk's flat.

(00:35) George and Henry Foster look up to Jean's window (pictured).

Spotter's Note: At 00:28, the shot cuts to an in-studio sequence, where the car pulls up outside a house of a style not seen on Lauderdale Road!

Since Filming: The low walls at the front of each property have now been removed and stone chip front gardens now leak onto the pavement. An improvement? We couldn't possibly comment!

(04:05) The Fosters depart from Lauderdale Road ('All Work and No Pay' title on screen).

Spotter's Note: For some reason, Lauderdale Road seems to be in a constant state of flux, with building and road works occurring seemingly on an endless loop - to the frustration of our location photographers. This particular view went through a phase of having all the low garden walls replaced and gravel frontages replacing gardens (see our 2014 photo). Thankfully, the gardens and walls have now been reinstated and Lauderdale Road once again looks impressive.

"The Fosters' Mansion"

STANMORE HALL
WOOD LANE
STANMORE
MIDDLESEX HA7

Identified by:
Sam Denham

(06:03) Establishing shot of the rear of the Fosters' mansion.

Since Filming: Stanmore Hall is a Grade II* listed building and as such, the main building is largely unchanged (aside from a fire in 1979 which seriously damaged its interior). It is now a highly desirable apartment complex.

Our photographs were taken in 2013 with official permission. Stanmore Hall is a private residence and Randall and Hopkirk (Declassified) does not encourage visits.

(06:09) The camera pans down to the steps that lead up to the rear of the house. Henry Fosters walks around the front of the Bentley and gets into the driving seat.

Since Filming: As can to an extent be seen from the photographs to the right, the back steps have been reworked, and now have a lengthy plateau at the summit which was not there previously. This is due to the construction of additional living space beneath and to the sides of the hill leading down from the house. The side stairs, also seen in some productions, have also been heavily remodelled.

(06:14) The Bentley pulls away and moves slowly down the rear driveway.

Since Filming: As the hall has been converted into apartments, the driveway has now been sectioned off to provide gardens and outdoor seating areas for residents of individual properties.

The rear gardens have also been heavily re-landscaped to accommodate new buildings beneath and to the side of the hill leading down from the house. The balustrade seen in this shot has now been replaced with a near-replica which lacks the evenly spaced larger columns. Additionally, the hill has been reworked to a shallower incline which ends approximately two feet lower than previously (note the lower section of wall visible that had originally been covered).

Since Filming: This block of flats is recognisable but it isn't completely unchanged since filming. Look closely and you will see that the parapet walls at the top of each red brick section have been removed. As is common with buildings of this age, the windows have also been replaced.

(33:47 / 33:55) Laura is chased through the bushes (an in-studio set), and finds herself emerging beside a lake.

Since Filming: This shot was filmed near the north east shore public gateway near The Fishery public house and restaurant on Watford Road, with the camera facing south west. Since 1968, many trees have fallen into the reservoir waters, and the one seen in silhouette in the shot in the episode is no longer present.

"The Outbuildings"

ELSTREE STUDIOS BACKLOT
SHENLEY ROAD
BOREHAMWOOD
HERTFORDSHIRE WD6

(36:06) Henry hides Laura's Lotus sports car.

(37:50) Persuaded to go back by Marty who has seen Henry hide Laura's car, Jeff checks the outbuildings. He is confronted by Henry, who pulls a gun on him.

Since Filming: The Elstree backlot area is significantly changed since the 1960s, not least due to the construction of a Tesco's superstore on 12 acres of former Elstree Studios land and there remains little that is recognisable. This particular backlot area remains a part of the land owned and used by Elstree Studios, but the construction itself was demolished in the 1970s.
