Locations are presented in the order they first appeared in the episodes, with all subsequent revisits to that place grouped together for the sake of tidiness. Timings given are based on the Blu-ray editions and all episode images are sourced from these discs. Please note that Blu-ray grabs have been regraded to highlight details of the filming locations and are not representative of the actual look of the Blu-rays, which are graded appropriately.

"Galerie Michele and
the Howarths' Residence"

ELSTREE STUDIOS BACKLOT
SHENLEY ROAD
BOREHAMWOOD
HERTFORDSHIRE WD6

Identified by:
Mike Richardson

(00:22) Marty materialises outside the Galerie Michele at night and strolls down the street. After pausing momentarily when he sees a courting couple, he carries on down the street and sees a man in the shadows. A taxi pulls up outside a house and a man exits from it. The man in a shadows pulls a gun, screws a silence to its barrel and goes after the man, much to Marty's shock.

(07:26) The police arrive at the Howarths' residence.

(22:03 / 22:07) Jeff dashes from the Howarths', gets into the Vauxhall and speeds off.

(47:53) Inspector Clayton arrives at the Howarths' residence in a police car. With three uniformed officers, he knocks repeatedly at the front door.

Since Filming: The Elstree backlot area is significantly changed since the 1960s, not least due to the construction of a Tesco's superstore on 12 acres of former Elstree Studios land and there remains little that is recognisable.

Identified by:
John Holburn

(24:30) In order to provide Jeff with an alibi, Jeannie drives to his flat at night and parks up outside a row of garages opposite it.

Spotter's Note: In this episode, Greenberry Street doubles for the road on which Jeff's apartment block stands, whereas in You Can Always Find a Fall Guy, it is clearly a right turn after the pub on the corner of Jeff's road.

"New Scotland Yard"

NEW SCOTLAND YARD
10 BROADWAY
LONDON SW1H

Identified by:
Stephen Carter, August 2000

(13:42) Establishing shot of New Scotland Yard, opening on a shot looking up at the main block which pans down to the rotating triangular New Scotland Yard sign at its base.

Spotter's Note: Eagle-eyed Randall and Hopkirk fans might be amused to note that a window cleaner was at work when this shot was being filmed, dangling between the fourth and fifth floors...

Since Filming: The Metropolitan Police moved into New Scotland Yard, a 20-storey block at 10 Broadway, in 1967 and remained there until November 2016, when they relocated to newly-refurbished premises on the Victoria Embankment. Today's New Scotland Yard building was was previously known as the Curtis Green Building (after its architect, William Curtis Green) and, before that, Whitehall Police Station. The 10 Broadway building has since been demolished and redeveloped as a residential area. The rotating 'New Scotland Yard' sign and Black Museum were both transferred to the new site.

The sign appears to have been moved at least twice while at the 10 Broadway site, its final on-site relocation being in 2011 to the junction of Broadway and Dacre Street. The reason given then was that the world famous sign attracted tourists who often blocked access to the building, albeit quite innocently. The timing and reason for the earlier move from its original location to the visitors' entrance closer to Dacre Street, is less clear.

(32:32) As the traffic lights turn green, Jeff, returning from the British Museum, turns right into Oxford Street (looking down Newman Street).

Since Filming: Many of the buildings in Newman Street have been demolished. The Dixons on the corner became a Curry's & PC World. Due to Crossrail construction at Tottenham Court Road Station, there is now no access to Great Chapel Street.

"Outside Jeff's Office"

ADAMS FURNITURE
SPRINGFIELD ROAD
HARROW
LONDON HA1

Identified by:
Andy Hulse

(33:32) The Randall and Hopkirk office sign on Springfield Road.

Spotter's Note: This shot cuts to one of Philip Madoc waiting in the Lancia near a row of garages. This was shot against a painted backdrop in studio, as was the shot of Jeff and Marty in the Vauxhall - against the same canvas of garage doors.

Since Filming: The Randall and Hopkirk offices are long gone, demolished in August 1985 to make way for a new development. The grass verge seen in the 1993 photograph represents the approximate point at which the offices stood. This too has also now gone and Jeff and Marty's offices are now under concrete, following the building in 1996 of a new shopping centre.
