Locations are presented in the order
they first appeared in the episodes, with all subsequent revisits to
that place grouped together for the sake of tidiness. Timings given are based on the Blu-ray editions and all episode images are sourced from these discs. Please note that Blu-ray grabs have been
regraded to highlight details of the filming locations
and are not representative of the actual look of the Blu-rays, which
are graded appropriately.

filming location seen in this episode, you can book at

Frederick Waller stands taking notes in the downstairs lounge of the
reputedly haunted Merston Manor.
Spotter's Note: This room is now the
hotel's Terrace Bar at the rear of the building. The painting displayed above the fireplace is
Spanish, from Medieval times, and is painted on leather canvas.
Since
Filming: Following the acquisition of the Edgwarebury from
Corus Hotels by the Laura Ashley Group, the interior of the hotel
was refurbished throughout, with the majority of the dark wood
beams being painted off-white. Also wall paintings on the stairs
were boarded over. Where possible we have attempted to show how
the hotel looked before and after the redecoration. |

(20:08) The car speeds
along the driveway.
Spotter's Note: The
third shot of Jeff's car on the driveway sees him double back
towards the hotel down the very same stretch as before but you
would never know due to clever direction and editing. |

BLACKHORSE LANE
SOUTH MIMMS
HERTFORDSHIRE EN6
Identified by:
Rhett Burns, October 2012 |
(20:14) From a roadside
ditch, Marty thumbs a lift.
Also appeared in:
Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) -
'When Did You Start To Stop Seeing Things?', 'A Disturbing Case' |
Spotter's Note: The sign to the left of the frame
reads: CAUTION - DANGEROUS BEND. Today it has been replaced by
one proclaiming the following: DUMPING PROHIBITED - OFFENDERS
WILL BE PROSECUTED. Clearly litterbugs are now more of a problem
than dangerous drivers...

RECTORY LANE
SHENLEY
HERTFORDSHIRE WD7
Identified by:
Alan Hayes, 2011 |
(39:14) Establishing shot of
Merston Village Hall.
Spotter's Note: This wooden construction was not actually the
Shenley Village Hall. A permanent brick-built village hall stands
at 108 London Road. Originally built in 1853 as a girls' primary
school, it was decomissioned from educational use in 1878. The
wooden hut seen in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) was
possibly connected to the Scout movement.
The
interior of the hut seen on screen was a studio set, as was the
exterior with Marty looking at the Merston Village Hall sign.
Since Filming: The wooden hut has been removed since filming
and two residential properties have been constructed between the
two white painted properties seen in the episode. |
