• The inclusion of six chapter points in each episode was stated as a special feature on the packaging.

• These ILC Prime releases utilised American public domain prints. Copyright on the packaging was attributed thus: "U.S. Copyright © 1986 International Creative Exchange". While this would arguably have covered a release in the United States, this claimed ownership did not apply under United Kingdom copyright law, where the rights were held by ITC Entertainment Ltd

• The prints presented lacked detail (a problem with most 'public domain' materials) and included soundtracks which had been remixed into stereo from the original mono sources. Unfortunately this meant that most episodes had speech and sound effects on the left channel and incidental music on the right. The effect was such that often the music drowned the dialogue and music on the right channel was out of time with the same on the left channel, resulting in phasing.

• The majority of episodes used in these ILC Prime releases were sourced from American prints. These featured a different title caption that stated the series title as 'THE INVISIBLE MAN' rather than 'H. G. WELLS' INVISIBLE MAN'. To achieve this, a replacement shot from Secret Experiment was inserted, with the title superimposed over it. The end credits replaced the Incorporated Television Programme Co. Ltd caption with another for Official Films, Inc. This was regularly replaced on the DVDs by a modern credit which read: '© Copyright 1957 International Creative Exchange' (some episodes were dated 1958 and 1959). All episodes were preceded by a modern International Creative Exchange ident.

• The first five episodes were sourced from US prints and included 'THE INVISIBLE MAN' title caption. The Locked Room was sourced from a British print with 'H. G. WELLS' INVISIBLE MAN' title caption and with the ITP end credit replaced with 'Copyright © International Creative Exchange 1958'. This UK print had normal, unprocessed monoaural sound. Secret Experiment and The Mink Coat carried the 'OFFICIAL FILMS, Inc' caption card at the end.

• Somewhat incongruously, this set also included a Canadian science-fiction film, Space Fury (1999), starring Michael Paré. It was of course completely unconnected to H. G. Wells' Invisible Man!

• The programme material was presented across two double-sided DVD discs.

• Despite appearances which suggested that this rather strange collection contained all three previously released volumes of ILC's The Invisible Man, it didn't! It actually comprised the first thirteen episodes only, split four-four-five across the first three disc sides. The packaging is therefore somewhat misleading...

• Print quality and sound issues are as per the previous releases.

• A box set combining all three ILC Prime volumes, so therefore collecting only 18 of the 26 episodes of the series. The Decoy, The Gun Runners, The White Rabbit, Man in Disguise, Man in Power, The Rocket, Shadow Bomb and The Big Plot were still not included.

• The discs were identical to the individual volumes, even down to catalogue numbers. Print quality and sound issues are as per the previous releases.

• This ILC Prime Invisible Man release comprised one double-sided DVD disc.

• Purchasers were not impressed to find that while the packaging gave the impression that this set contained the first two volumes and 12 episodes, it actually contained just four episodes on each side. The front cover carries the covers for Volumes 1 and 2, but closer inspection reveals the promise of "6 action packed classics". Considering that the back cover lists 12 episodes, purchasers had every right to feel aggrieved at receiving just eight.

• Finally, ILC Prime released the whole H. G. Wells' Invisible Man series. The first three discs of the 5-disc set were direct ports of the previous ILC releases (with all their burned in faults, particularly to the soundtracks), whereas Disc 4 and Disc 5 were newly authored. These carried a new ILC ident which was declared "ILC - Pinewood Studios", and held four episodes per disc compared to the six on each of the original volumes.

• Sadly, ILC did not take it upon themselves to correct the audio faults of the earlier releases, though the new to DVD episodes on the fourth and fifth discs had untampered with mono tracks.

• The episodes on Discs 4 and 5 were all sourced from US prints (for Discs 1-3, please see individual release above). All eight episodes sported the variant title card reading "THE INVISIBLE MAN" and The Gun Runners and Man in Disguise included their original Official Films US endcaps. The others had modern International Creative Exchange endcaps.

• Strangely, the box artwork was laid out in such a way that the front cover was positioned where the back cover would normally be. Hence our packshot showing the spine and what we presume was meant to be the back cover!

• The booklet mentions the unscreened pilot but it was not included on the discs.

• ILC Prime Limited went into compulsory liquidation in late October 2005, with the company being formally dissolved on 6th November 2010.

• PDF material: H. G. Wells' Invisible Man features from ATV Star Book 1959 and 1960 (Disc 3)

• This Network first edition came in a transparent plastic slipcover featuring overlaid images of Peter Brady on the front cover and spine. Inside was a clear 22mm width Scanavo case.

• There appear to have been two variants of this first edition, with some copies carrying the legend 'LIMITED EDITION' on the cover and others 'THE COMPLETE SERIES'. These had identical catalogue and barcode numbers. Click on the transparent slipcover above to see the limited variant.

• After several years during which the series had been issued in the United States, the United Kingdom and elsewhere using supposed public domain prints hailing from the USA, Network produced new transfers from the original film elements. The improvement in images and particularly sound was significant.
