Notes |
-
This fortnightly partwork
from DeAgostini was available to buy in high street
newsagents and also via subscription. The first issue
was priced at £2.99, with each subsequent issue costing
£5.99.
-
This was
a regional trial run for the eventual The Prisoner /
Danger Man partwork and was curtailed after six test
issues. This was a common practice with partworks. In this
particular case, the regions chosen for the trial were
London, the Midlands and the
south west of England.
-
Each issue comprised a VHS
videotape
containing a single Prisoner episode and a 24-page magazine
written by Robert Fairclough and Marcus Hearn which contained
information about the episodes featured, along with more
general features about The Prisoner.
-
A VHS of the movie edit of
Koroshi was given as a free gift with The
Prisoner: The Official Fact File Number 2 (The
Chimes of Big Ben).
-
Despite the inclusion of
Koroshi, the partwork was marketed as simply The
Prisoner: The Official Fact File... at this stage in
its development. The Prisoner issues of the later
full partwork carried the subtitle The Danger Man Collection,
but this was absent for the trial run.
-
After the trial run, the
decision was taken not to pursue a national DeAgostini
Prisoner/ Danger Man collection on VHS. This
would ultimately commence on Tuesday 21 December 2004.
-

Notes |
-
This fortnightly partwork
from DeAgostini was available to buy in high street
newsagents and also via subscription. The Danger Man
issues cost
£7.99 each and the fortnightly run followed on two weeks after The Prisoner
had reached its conclusion (hence the first Danger
Man Collection being Number 18).
-
Each issue comprised a DVD
disc
containing several Danger Man episodes and a 24-page magazine
written by Robert Fairclough and Jaz Wiseman (replacing
Marcus Hearn, who departed the project after The
Prisoner) which contained
information about the episodes featured, along with more
general features about the series and its world.
-
A DVD of the movie edit of
Koroshi was given as a free gift with The
Prisoner: The Official Fact File Number 2 (The
Chimes of Big Ben).
-
One episode in The Danger Man
Collection proved to be marginally less than complete. The
print included of Not So Jolly Roger ran one second
short, omitting the final sentence Drake delivers to Corrigan
(Wilfrid Lawson) near the end of the episode: "Good idea, this
pirate station, wasn't it? Pop music till midnight.
Military secrets by special request." This cut was also
present when Network issued their DVD collection of the
50-minute episodes on 30 July 2007. After this cut was
highlighted on Roobarb's Forum and The Mausoleum Club internet
forums, Australian video label Madman, in association with
Granada International Archives, tracked down a complete print
and included it on their own DVD set of the one-hour episodes
- Danger Man: The Complete 1964-66 Series (MMB608,
2008). Incidentally the VHS version published by the ITC Entertainment Group Ltd
in 1992 (Danger Man - Number 3,
ITC 0735) was fully complete.
-
